CIPL Conference: Sociolinguistics of Language EndangermentThe Permanent International Committee of Linguisits/Comité International Permanent des Linguistes (CIPL) will hold a Conference on the Sociolinguistics of Language Endangerment at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London on Saturday 27 June 2009 from 9am-5.45pm. This CIPL sponsored conference is being held in conjunction with the 3L International Summer School in Language Documentation and Description. The conference will include discussion of a wide range of sociolinguistic issues relating to language endangerment. Invited speakersThe conference convenor is Dr David Bradley, La Trobe University, Australia who is a CIPL Executive member and CIPL Professor at the 3L Summer School. The plenary speakers are:
Call for papersProposals for 30 minute presentations (a 20 minute paper followed by 10 minutes discussion) are invited. Abstracts of one page should to be submitted to CIPLconference2009@gmail.com by 31 March 2009. Acceptance of papers will be notified by 30 April 2009. A draft programme will be available on 30 April 2009. Updated information on the conference will be found on the 3L website and on the CIPL web site. E-mail communication concerning this conference should be directed to David Bradley at CIPLconference2009@gmail.com. RegistrationRegistration for the CIPL Conference is now open. All participants in the 3L Summer School are automatically registered for the CIPL Conference for free. All other delegates wishing to attend the CIPL Conference must download and complete a registration form (including payment details), and return this by fax or post by Friday 19 June 2009.
