Data collection methods

Language documentation has data as its main focus, so concerns itself with how it is to be collected, and how corpora can incorporate observed linguistic behaviour, complemented by information on negative evidence, metalinguistic awareness, and felicity conditions for utterances. This talk will overview a battery of methods to handle social variables, linguistic parameters and data types, exploring how different kinds of data can contribute to insights into language structure, the intuitions of speakers, and their speech repertoires.
