Language Revitalisation: Practical Considerations for Programme  Development

The course will look at the principles and practices involved in language revitalisation, e.g. What can be learnt from other communities’ experiences? What kinds of measures have proved successful or unsuccessful, and in what contexts? What are some possible pitfalls? What can we contribute? The course will consider case studies of programme development and implementation. Students will have the opportunity to design a revitalisation project for a real or hypothetical language situation (depending on their individual experience).
