Introduction to the Tlapanec Language

The course will consist of an introduction to the Tlapanec language (Otomanguean, Mexico) through the eyes of a fieldworker. Students will be presented with language materials to work on, and the course will add something to their pool of linguistic experience through the confrontation with highly complicated tonal languages with several unusual grammatical categories. The course will be combining attention to fieldwork methods with the introduction to a particular language.
