Project Summary:

The aim of the project is to continue the documentation of the Sia Pedee language (Embera, Choco) as part of a long-term revitalization process. The main goals include: (1) time-aligned annotation of audiovisual material; (2) publication of folk literature and testimonial narratives depicting the recent history of the Epera people in Ecuador; (3) training of local language consultants and teachers in documentation skills and pedagogical use of previously produced teaching materials; (4) edition of basic wordlist with sounds in CD format. The project features the training of local human resources and the linking of language revitalization efforts to socially relevant activities.
